Snow threat to Lingfield

Snow is posing a threat to Saturday's all-weather Flat meeting at Lingfield.

There has already been snow today and more is forecast throughout tomorrow. As a result, a precautionary inspection will be held at 6.30am.

"To be fair to the forecasters, they did tell us to keep an eye on it today. They weren't quite sure when the snow was coming or where exactly," said clerk of the course Neil MacKenzie Ross.

"Until earlier today we were told it wasn't going to come until mid-afternoon tomorrow, which gave us every hope all would be well.

"However, that has radically changed and it has been snowing quite hard. The forecasters say from 3am we will get pretty constant snow all the way through until tomorrow evening.

"It's a case of keep looking at it minute by minute as the forecast keeps chopping and changing."
